LMAO! I can't imagine what they would do if a person showed up at a concert with such a T-shirt. All of the Claymats have Clay's pic plastered all over their Clay concertgear, so I why couldn't someone show up with a shirt like this? Good find, pugmill!

LOLOL!! I meant to comment on the shirt in the other blog, but ended up entertaining myself over at John's place.

Oh oh! Elton's releasing his CD on September 19. The Claymats better start skimming from their kids' college funds and ramping up those Amazon orders.

"Elton Unveils 'Captain' Track List, Release Date

    August 11, 2006, 4:25 PM ET

    Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Elton John has set a Sept. 19 release date for his new studio album, "The Captain and the Kid." As first revealed here last September, the Rocket/Island set is a sequel to the artist's 1975 album "Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Brown Cowboy." First single "The Bridge" will be available Aug. 22 from Apple's iTunes Music Store.

"It was [Sanctuary Group CEO Merck Mercuriadis'] idea, because he said, 'You're always saying how [songwriting partner] Bernie [Taupin] has become the Brown Dirt Cowboy' -- he lives on a ranch in Santa Ynez [Calif.] -- and I'm this guy who plays concert after concert, buying art, buying photographs, living a very lavish lifestyle," John told Billboard. "I've become Captain Fantastic."

John will premiere the material at an intimate Sept. 6 show at Rose Hall in New York. Members of John's Rocket club have first crack at tickets starting today (Aug. 11) via EltonJohn.com.

The artist will kick off a North American tour in support of "The Captain and the Kid" Sept. 15 in Sacramento, Calif.

Here is the track list for "The Captain and the Kid":

    "Postcards From Richard Nixon"
    "Just Like Noah's Ark"
"Wouldn't Have You Any Other Way (NYC)"
    "Tinderbox"
    "...And The House Fell Down"
    "Blues Never Fade Away"
    "The Bridge"
"I Must Have Lost It on the Wind"
    "Old '67"
    "The Captain and the Kid"
    "

    Seen at another board:

"According to Billboard.com, Elton John's next album "The Captain and the Kid" is now set for release on Sept. 19. It's a sequel to the album "Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Brown Cowboy" -- an album I played the shit out of back in high school; already one website is calling Sept. 19 as Elton vs. Clay for #1 versus anyone else that's releasing an album that week."

Wouldn't a "contest" of this sort be like a heavy-weight champ fighting Don Knotts?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't know how in the world Faiken could even BEGIN to give Elton a run for any kind of money.

LMAO! This is a good analogy. Yes, Clay will be completely overshadowed by Sir Elton's sales, as he should be. Also, Sir Elton's sales will be legit, and not padded to the extreme like Clay's.

Yay for SierraMist! She is absolutely right. Love that she seems to be calling Clay on his manipulation and BS. I'm sure that she finds the comments by the nasties amusing at this stage.

So we're clear, a few messages to OFC members reading along:

Clay really isn't Jesus. (I promise)

He doesn't walk on water. (He's scared of it)

He can tell a lie just as well as you can. (Probably better.)

And finally in the "you should be ashamed of yourself category" -

You shouldn't spend your money buying 8 copies of the same cd of ANY artist. The money would've been better used on some community project, or in a children's hospital, or well, you get the drift. $70 (9.99x7 I'm rounding up) is a helpful amount of money.

I'm pretty sure I know what camp you belong to. You and your pals have been invading quite a few Clay fan sites recently. Could it be that you're a little bitter that Clay is releasing a cd a little too close to the same time as your buddy? I think that's the reason for the sudden "visits" to the Clay sites.
You only succeed to come off as extremely confused and lost. You make me scratch my head and wonder what type of meds you're supposed to be on. Give it up. Don't be bitter and show your @#$ on the Clay sites. This jealosy you
people have in your camp is really going overboard. By this time, we pretty much just skip right on by your posts anyway. Enjoy yourself, all by yourself.

^ that should be reported to the moderators. And they wonder why no one likes them? What "camp" is she referring to. Or maybe it's an Elton John or Tom Petty conspiracy theory.

    #2- Christina Aguilera (a virgin)
    #3- Clesus

Gnarls Barkley, the Chicks, and Bob have all fallen into a pile right behind Clay.

We also now have Elton to worry about. Not to mention "the Cheetah Girls" who are sort of a dark horse. I hear that Clarus and SHF are pretty hot for the Cheetah Girls but don't spread that around......

Here's a post from a brand new poster over at the CB. Does this sound "funny" to anyone else?

"My ride so far as a Claymate

What a party, what a wild ride, my life has been as so far as a Claymate.

I 'discovered' Clay to the point of becoming a Clayfan only a short few months ago when I saw him perform on the American Idol Finale. I remembered him from AI2, but had only ever watched Idol in the ads, and knew little about him other than the runner up of American Idol. But, when I decided to watch the American Idol Finale, I began my journey to truly discovering Clay Aiken, and realising how 'runner up of American Idol 2 is so little of his being. Taken by his voice, one of my errands the next day was a mad rush of a trip to the CD store where I purchased MOAM. I loved it, and had it constantly on repeat. A couple of days later I opened up google search and had a good proper look around for Clay sites. Slowly, but surely I began to piece together in my mind a huge impression of this man who I had known of for years but only truly known for a short time.

A couple of weeks ago I applied to this board, exciting about becoming a part of this community which has embraced Clay so completely and supportively. Almost as soon as I received the email informing me I had been accepted did I begin my posting journey which has not disappointed.

Lucky for me I came into this board just when things were really starting to move for A Thousand Different Ways. I got to witness all our your lovely and excited responses to something you've been waiting for, for as I found out, about a year.

Let it be known that you have made only wonderful impressions on me as Claymates, and I look forward to becoming an experienced part of Clay Aiken fandom.

    Kessie"

    Morning all!

sereneaura: "How manipulative Gaiken is to now rah rah cheer on the CD release parties. Hey you claybats, that is because RCA is going to give this cover CD the least amount of promo possible."

That is exactly what is going on, and you can include the push for multiple buying at Amazon.com in that as well.

tin: Yeah, that post seems as phoney as a $3 bill. Especially, these parts:

"But, when I decided to watch the American Idol Finale, I began my journey to truly discovering Clay Aiken, and realising how 'runner up of American Idol 2 is so little of his being. Taken by his voice, one of my errands the next day was a mad rush of a trip to the CD store where I purchased MOAM. I loved it, and had it constantly on repeat."

A dead giveaway. There is no one in the real world who would have made a "mad rush" to get MOAM just because of the AI5 appearance. No one. Coincidently, this is what the Claymats have been hoping would happen. Voila, it appears.

"Let it be known that you have made only wonderful impressions on me as Claymates, and I look forward to becoming an experienced part of Clay Aiken fandom. "

LMAO! Talk about a transparent spin! Right. Reassure the nutso Claymats that they can disregard the universally negative reputation that they have. This is such obvious schmoozing for more upcoming campaigns. It will be interesting to track the posts of this mole. Where is Claythud when you need her?

Also, RCA is going to give this cover CD the least amount of promo possible.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA, SO true. I wouldn't want to busrt that big ol'bubble of theirs, but can
anyone correct me if I'm wrong? I don't recall seeing Faiken so invested into his promotion through the mats like he is this year. Why? Hummm, maybe RCA's less than enthusiastic inclination to provide ANY promo mullah, soooooo, someone's gotta' do it, right? So it's time to blog and rile the troops. *wink*

I am about to run out the door, but had to get my "tin-fix" for the day.

As to the shirt-hilarious. If Clay is upset by it, I would bet the only reason is because he is not getting his cut of the profits.

Way to go SierraMist! It is so refreshing to know that everyone posting at OFC has not been brain-washed or brain-dead.

And did I read that Sir Elton will kick off a tour to promote his new CD? What a novel concept! Someone should tell his royal hiney that this is what REAL musical artists generally do--and at the time of release, not months later if at all!

  • At 12:34 PM, Blogger Kilroy Was Here Too said…

I just read kessie's post. That was damned nauseating and so very obvious. But Claymates can't see the forest through the trees, so they only think they have a new and excited fan among them, I'm sure.

  • At 12:45 PM, Blogger RelaxedBrain said…

Looks like the CH resident music industry guru is not worried about Sir Elton's sales.

    "Quote:
FWIW, Elton’s 2004 release, Peachtree Road, debuted at #17 on the Billboard 200. I’ll look around for the exact figure, but it would have been under 86K.
    ------------
Yup. First week sales of Peachtree Road were 71,558 for the week ending 14 November 2004. The album's last week in the Billboard top-200 was that ending 9 January 2005, when the album had sold 248,986 copies. I don't think Elton John will be challenging for the #1 spot for the week ending 24 September 2006. I think the strongest contenders for the spot will be Clay, Fergie (*retch*) and Lloyd Banks."

Don't forget about Justin Timberlake's second week's sales.

  • At 12:46 PM, Blogger clarus65 said…

tfh -- that post from the Clayboard is so obviously more propoganda to keep the Mats in line its hilarious. "I was so struck by Faiken's 90 second performance on the AI finale that my life was miraculously transformed. I leaped out of my wheel chair and jumped and danced for joy as he hit that final glorynote!" Puh-lease.

  • At 12:48 PM, Blogger clarus65 said…

I'm pulling for Fergie to beat out Aiken myself because I know that would really drive the Mats crazy.

  • At 1:12 PM, Blogger RelaxedBrain said…

Oops! Kenny Chesney has a live CD coming out on September 19 too! The CH guru and others are finally seeing the lack of promotion for ATDW. They are concerned now:

    "Quote:
I would add Kenny Chesney in there as well. Even though it's only a live album, he's HUGE now and has a very rabid fanbase. 9/19 is just a very crowded day.
    -----------
I agree that Chesney does have a very rabid core fanbase and that his tour is doing amazingly well. But weekly sales of The Road and the Radio are down under 14K now (total sales are just over 2.4 million). That album seriously underperformed in its first week (relative to label expectations -- it still did over 469K in its first week, which is fantastic). His latest single, -if- it manages to maintain the huge bullet it has now for the next 5 weeks, will be on the cusp of the Country top-10 when the live album is released. That's good, but I don't think it's nearly as strong a single as several of its predecessors. I totally think a Chesney live hits album will open with stronger numbers than many live albums do, but I still don't see it contending for #1 unless, again, other new releases that week underperform.

Having said that, I agree with this...
    Quote:
I'm not so concerned about Clay getting to #1, but rather not getting lost in the shuffle. The fact is right now these people are much, much more out there and have music on the radio plus buzz. That will help them.
    -------------
Clay is going to need a serious September blitz behind him to make up for lost time if he is going to contend for #1, I think. "

Optimism is waning. From another long-time CHer:

"Well, unless RCA knows something we don't know and believes Clay can sell boatloads of CDs without much promotion or advertising, I don't see how he can contend with Fergie, Lloyd Banks, Chesney and the other artists who have successful singles and marketing campaigns. The absence of any marketing for Clay's album with a little over a month to go is very unusual to me. No hype, no buzz. Some talk about the hair and a press release which you would see only if you are on the internet checking it out.

John Mayer has an album coming out and he has a concert here which is being heavily promoted on the radio. Of course he also has a single that is being played as well. This seems to be the general pattern for album promotion. Why an artist like Clay who has sold 4 million CDs is an afterthought to his label is just something I don't understand.

My expectations have dwindled basically to one thing. We will get an album with the songs listed in the press release. I don't expect anything else, including #1 or #50 on the charts this time around. If RCA isn't going to promote Clay's album, there is nothing I can do and worrying won't help either.

Maybe they will just sell themselves. Put the cds on the shelf and people will buy. "

The only "people" who are going to buy this CD are the Claymats. That's why there's little to no promotion. It makes no difference and is just a waste of money.

Welcome, lucky ducky! Nice to see you here. Hope that you will feel like joining in the discussions.

OK .... so far, we have Fergie, Sir Elton, John Mayer, Kenny Chesney and Lloyd Banks all releasing CDs on September 19. Not to mention, Justin Timberlake's CD will be in it's second week of release. This week is starting to shape up as pretty competitive. I don't think that skimming the kids' college funds will be enough. The Claymats will have to take out that second mortgage.

"easterseal", the point nut for the CD drive for the troops wrote:

"My take on not touring as a good idea for us, the Cd is coming out. lots of bucks there for friends, birthday gifts Christmas gifts, for the troops (hint hint), then the holidays with the kids Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas, tons of money for toys, gifts for office, friends, family on and on, gifts for hanakuk (I apologize I can not remember how to spell theat). Parties and big famil dinners. So this way we a couple of months to recoup and be able to have money to travel and buy sourviners. The tickets we may have to buy around holidays. Just some thoughts"

So, this nut is advocating spending the money that the Claymats would have spent on concerts on CDs? I would hate being a relative or friend of a Claymat.

I will put off buying Justin's cd until the second week, along with Fergie's, and all those other people's. I think either Fergie or Justin will be #1 the week of the 19th as well. They deserve to be, or John Mayer, over Faiken, because they will actually be selling cd's, not benefitting from a mass buy out of pity by mats who think Faiken "needs help."
